RSL Centre of Oriental Literature. What’s On in July?

The Russian State Library continues its series of lectures devoted to the culture and art of the countries of Asia and Africa. Philosophy and linguistics, religion and ethnology, art and crafts, music, dance, body art – all those and many other interesting aspects will be dealt with in most captivating talks by the invited experts of the RSL. A part of meetings was organized with the support of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

So, you may start your exciting trip with the “Triangle of Polynesia” and Maori culture by orientalist historian and author of Telegram channel “Oceanic Notes” Maria Drugomilova.

Then, lecture “Metaphor of Wood and Nasir Khusraw’s Philosophy” by candidate of Philosophy and senior researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and author of Telegram channel “Salam, you teacher!” Tatyana Korneeva is available on the link.

You are welcome to watch “Pilgrimage to Mecca. An Inside View” based on the personal experience of Ilgisar Davletshin, orientalist theologian and head of the Department of education and science of the Spiritual Administration of Russian Muslims.

Explore the world of Balochi and their “Grand Balochistan“ region with Anastasia Bogachiova, junior researcher of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

For connoisseurs, there is offered a lecture by Nikolai Polonsky, historian and teacher, specialist in ruling dynasties and member of History and Genealogy Society, the Russian Noble Assembly and the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, dealing with the state of Kuwait and its governors.

Then, for those who are in love with the Korean culture, Ekaterina Pokholkova, candidate of Philology and associate professor, the dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of Moscow State Linguistic University, and Daria Mavleeva, candidate of Philology and associate professor of the Department of Oriental Languages of MSLU, present their talk “Healing Novels, or Korean Escapism”.

Finally, the traditions of the Chinese art will be depicted in the lecture by artist and sinologist, a researcher of the Chinese Culture Research Center of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Administration of the Society of Russian and Chinese Cooperation Anna Donchenko “Qí Báishí. An Artist Teacher”.
